2007 tie rods changed??

So I have my truck at the dealer. He says that my tie rods are done ( which I knew) But because of my lift they cant put stock tie rods on it because dodge changed the way they make the tie rods since I bought my truck. And the new design wont work with my lift.

Sounds like a load of BS. This is his reasoning for having to use aftermarket parts and not stock parts and why it WONT be under warranty now.

Is there any truth to this at all...did Dodge change the tie rod since 2007?? Im so angry right now...

So regardless of my lift or not...they wouldnt be able to use stock tie rods because they arent in production anymore right?

It should be under warranty...grrr!

You changed the steering geometry when you did a lift kit. Dodge is no longer liable for any of your steering or front suspension components. You play-you pay.

Well, my dealer has changed ujoints, a driveshaft, BOTH front axle joints and PS pump all since my mods. They have told me numerous times they fix ANY dodge part regardless of the mods.

My truck is a mall crawler...no playing in the mud.

Why not just pay for the aftermarket, read better than Dodge, parts and they cover the labor under warranty? This sounds much better in the long run anyway.

They are putting Moog parts in. No choice anyway...Dodge doesnt make tie rods for my truck anymore ( well the early 5.9 07 anyway) This is what the dealer is telling me.

Yeah 1000. spent today.

No lift or suspension mods on my 07 5.9 and the dealer today just changed another tie rod part. About 3 months ago they did the upgrades tot he pitman arm and steering linkage including the steering shock, today during an oil change I was informed that they also needed to change an already changed tie rod part. Haven't been under yet but part was changed so yes parts are still available at least for the stock suspension

I do not see why the new design steering set up would not work. I only have a 4"lift but it works great on mine.

I don't think the tie rods from the new steering design will bolt on to the old steering. Maybe that is what they are talking about. However, the new steering design will work with your lift. I have a 5" lift on my 05 and it bolted right in.
