Is there an easy way to get to the headlight dimmer wire on my 2007? I have a Lunar Pyrometer that I will be installing.

I was just going to have the gauge always lit via ignition on relay, but the gauge instructions caution against a constant 12V source for the lighting due to the life of the luminescence in the Lunar series.

Also has anyone installed the pyro in the Jacobs access port? Is the pyro lead wire long enough to reach a pillar mounted pod?

(I know I have read a lot about pre versus post turbo for the pyro. But since I will not be adding any power enhancements it is just piece of mind...and the cool factor, make that cool factor first)

take out the headlight switch and use a test light to see what wire dims the test light when you roll the dimmer...when you find the one that dims..splice into it with your gauge lighting wire and your done....

How do you get the headlight switch out?

you have to take the plastic panel off below your steering wheel and maybe one on the side of the dash(cant remember)...then it should expose some screws

Yep, I was hoping for a shortcut to the dimmer wire. Reading the manual it is more involved than what I hoping for.

If you take the lower kick panel off you can lay in the floor and look up at the whole dimmer assembly. The wire you tap will come from the dimmer, of course, and is orange with a brown tracer. Problem is there are two orange with brown tracers coming out of the connector.

The one you want is the one that is directly beside the orange with black tracer. It is right beside the connector tab that holds the wiring pack in. I didn't feel like taking the switch and dimmer out so I did most of it by feel after I found the right wire.

When you do it, buy a few of the wire taps. If you tap the wrong one just leave it on there and tap the other.

Use a test light or volt meter to make sure thats the correct wire and your set.

What I did at this point was make up a pigtail of sorts that runs to a more convenient location under the dash. On one end of the pigtail I put a spade connector to connect with the wire tap and connected my gauges at the other end.

I have plans to add more gauges in the future so when that happens I'll put another tap onto the pigtail I ran under the dash instead of fooling with another splice.

The lights on these gauges draw so little current that this type of connection will be just fine.

My truck didn't come with the fancy cupholder light and whatnot, so the way I look at it I can use that extra capacity for my gauge lights.

Do a search on here on the dimmer wire. There are a bunch of threads with pictures showing the exact location.

It's a PITA. Does help with an extra person to hold the trim panel back so you can work behind the headlight switch.
And there are two Orange/Brown wires coming off the Headlight switch. You want the OR/BR wire in the #4 position on the connector.

Got the dimmer wire tapped. Yes a PITA. Knowing how it connects now I think the headlight harness could be disconnected by removing the side panel of the dash and reaching in with small hands. Then pressing on top of the connecter to remove the harness. Then pull out to the side to tap.

Tested the gauge light and it flickers if the dimmer is below about half way. Above half way intensity increases as dimmer is increased.

Is this normal on the Lunar series? I was thinking maybe it doesn't like too low of voltage?

Hopefully I did not tap the wrong wire, definitely the #4 OR/BR.

Hmmm. Wonder if the Lunar series is using LED bulbs.

I think the Lunar series use LED's. That would explaint the flickering at lower brightness levels.
