2007 Dodge Cummins UH-OH!!
I was doing a job near my house the other day and on my way back to Nashville I decided to stop near the highway to fuel up the diesel sucking pig called a furd f550. Well I noticed a fella there had an 07' and struck up a conversation with him about how he liked the 07'. We talked and he topped off his tank and said something about how it rattles at times and makes some odd noises.
For some reason the rattle, knock just made me think about gasoline and premium cars with regular unleaded knocking and pinging. I happened to glance over at the pump and saw the sticker. " Not for use in 2007 models or newer, 500ppm....." I asked if he got fuel here all the time and he said he liked coming to this particular station. I explained to him that it probably was'nt a good idea to run this fuel in this truck. Explained the converter, etc the sticker on the pump and told him he needed to watch out for the ultra-low sulfur fuel, 15ppm and that is what he absolutely had to run in the 07'.
I know it's bad for the converter, BP said the sulfer content in low sulfer fuel would kill the converter. Hopefully this fella has not been running it to long, or has had luck on his side and when fueling elsewhere has put in the ultra low.
Makes me wonder how many people out there have done this or are doing it without even knowing? Seemed like a nice guy though, told him about our website while chatting his ear off.

not to sure about the motor, I guess I just assumed(yeah, not good) it was the 6.7. Forgot the early ones had the 5.9. I just noticed it had all the badging of the 07' and had the urge to chat. Get's boring in the truck all day with little conversation, other than some choice words for junky equipment

Not only is it bad for the aftertreatment , you dont want to run the LSD with the new CJ-4 oil, it has a low TBN and low sulfated ash content. not a good combo for the engine life.

I still got the good ole diesel here in town. Every station off Ft. Hood has the ULSD but the ones on post still have the older stuff. I try to fill up there when I get the chance. I seem to get better mpg with the older diesel as well.

If you can get it, dump some BIODIESEL in there. That'll improve any diesel. Running a 20% mixture won't hurt any truck and will help combat the effects of the ULSD.
