2006 CCV filter

I am at 60k and need to replace the ccv filter, went to Geno's and could not find the 2006 filter and under the 02-05 it says:
NOTE: Will not work on '06-'07 trucks. Cummins says you have to buy a new complete valve cover to replace the CCV filter on these trucks.
Is this true? Or can I use the '05 filter? If not what a rip off.

It's true, but I also don't think there is a scheduled change for the CCV filter on a 5.9.

Thanks for the responses, my next question is:
What is the reason for having to replace the valve cover? Is the CCV filter located in a different place than the 05 and older models? It seems overkill, has anyone changed one out in a 06/07 5.9? If so do they have the parts list and cost? I won’t change mine; I just want to know for future services, thanks again.

The reason you have to replace the cover is becuase the filters is perm attached to the cover.

How would you know if it needs to be replaced?
Honestly this is the first time I've even heard of it...

pull your dipstick out while the motor is running, if the filter needs changing a lot of smoke will come out. you can back wash the filter with diesel fuel and air. as long as you are not running a K&N air filter you should not worry about it. after 250,000 miles just check it every 50,000 miles

I was looking at mine when I had the valve cover off the last time and they had what looked like torx head screws but they were only five points and they have the tamper proof thing in the middle. Detroit diesel has a dish scrubber looking thing in the valve cover that I always clean when I have them apart. I figure the less restriction the better, and they do get nasty.
