2006 12V or 24v

I'm confused now. I'm looking to purchase my first Dodge truck and my first CTD.

I thought 12v were for the older generations? I don't know if its the dealers that are labeling it wrong on their websites but I'm seeing some places advertise 2006 quad cabs with the 5.9L but 12V? does that even make sense?

They are 24 valve, 12 valves stopped being put into dodge trucks in 1998.5 MY. anything after 1998.5 is a 24 valve from the factory.

If the new trucks had a 12v in them, the market would be flooded with Cummins powered Dodge trucks...

Not that I think a 12v is the best...

the 5.9 was used until early 07 actually then they went to the 6.7 which is not that much bigger. all in all the newer the truck the more problems 98 and earlier 12v 5.9s are the most reliable the easiest to upgrade inexpensively

Only partly true. The 6.7L is only available in Cab & Chassis if I recall correctly.

Huh, no it is available now in 2500's and 3500's. It's the replacement to the 5.9.

The 6.7 is most definately available in 3/4 and 1 ton models. There's several on this site that own them.
