2005.5 right rear turn signal issue...

I have a later 2005 model truck that acts like the right rear turn signal is out. The problem is, the bulb itself is actually good. I have swapped several different known good bulbs into that socket and they will not work. The dash displays "bulb out" and the turn signal on the front does double time when I signal a right turn. If I hook a trailer up, the trailer lights work fine, but still at the faster blink speed (right side only, left works normally) Occasionally for a few beats the signal will work normally, making me think this is either a broken or partially shorted wire somewhere.

Is a relay a more likely culprit? Can someone with a wiring diagram tell me what color wire I am looking for and if there are any known chafing spots to check first?

One other thing, sometimes when braking firmly enough to make the front end dive a bit, the signal works normally until the front end rebounds back to normal ride height, but not always.

Welcome to the forum,

What does the bulb contact base look like and does the harness going into it have any voltage? The bases are prone to loosing contact and getting hot..

Try swapping the base with the DS and see if that works..

Saw where somebody (maybe madhat) swapped the entire light assy's around. I know they wont fit but just connecting them to opposite sides allowed him to narrow it down a little more.

Edit: guess thats what Colo River Ram was saying.

You guys are both right on, it is the "circuit board" that holds the bulbs. Swapping them around moved the problem to the other side. Found one online for less than three bucks, may see what the dealer quotes just for laughs.

Thanks, I thought this was going to get nasty with a chafed wire somewhere.

Yeah, I did that, just took the left side to the right in the whole assy to verify that the board was bad.

Guess you figured it out. Good job.
