2004 6spd manual issues
I have a 2004 manual with 127K on it and have trouble shifting into certain gears like reverse and 2nd. Had a tranny shop look into it and they say could be throw out bearing but would recomend clutch replacement. Clutch responds half way through the pedal stroke and feels tight. No slipping noticed. Could it just be synchros?

There are a number of posts related to this. Most people report better shifting when changing to a synthetic fluid. I did that at about the same mileage you're reporting and the difference was noticable but it was still hard to get into gear at times. I changed my hydraulics to South Bend parts and haven't had an issue since. I now have 240k on the odometer. HTH

I have not had the tranny fluid changed since I have owned it at 74K and had the tranny shop look into the hydraulics and they said the hydraulics appeard fine. No leaks etc but really would not be able to tell until clutch change. Ill try the tranny fluid change and see what that does. THANKS!

Don't think its the clutch if the hydraulics are working correctly. It could be a premature failure of the Pilot Bearing which when bad does not let the tranny spin so the shift can be made. This is especially true when trying to shift at idle sitting still. It will also eat up the pilot shaft or imput shaft to the tranny.
I went 185,000 miles before I changed the clutch and bearings on my last truck. (2000 3500 NV5600) I torn down the NV5600 to look at 185,000 and found nothing except 6th gear needed replacement from me putting pressure on the gear by keeping my hand on the shifter when driving.
Pictures posted on my pictures section of the tear down (Coastaldav)
The third gear syncro was worn as expected.
I changed the hydraulics 10,000 miles after I installed the SB Con O. No difference in shifting. Used Penzoil Sycromesh Fluid all the time.
Sold the truck last June.
