2004.5 3500 leveling
I recently put a massive ranch hand replacement bumper on the front of my 3500 and noticed that the added weight has definitely lowered the front of the truck. The shop I bought the bumper from suggested a leveling kit. I've seen a lot of people recommend the Hell Bent Steel leveling kits available on ebay. Are there any downsides to installing a 2" leveling kit? Does it alter the handling or risk damage to the truck in any way?

I just put the Hell Bent Steel 2" kit on my truck along with some Bilstein shocks. Install was relatively easy, alignment was good when I had it checked after the install. Some also put on a new traction bar as the axle does get shifted over slightly. I have not yet as it has not affected how the truck drives but may upgrade my traction bar in the future. I would however recommend some drop blocks or longer sway bar end links as mine ended up bent within the first week. I just put some Maxx end links on mine so hopefully no more problems.

I have had a 2" level on my 94 for 2-3 hundred k miles, no problems. I just installed 2.5 in on the 04.5 it moved my wheels back a bit but I am sure the front end alignment will resolve that as There looks to be plenty of adjustment in the lower arms, I will probably install longer sway bar links although looks ok at the moment. I would think that if you have added weight in the front the sway bar links may be ok. Also my shocks were maxed out with the 2.5" kit so I lowered my shock towers 2".

An alignment will not correct the diff being pulled over, you need a new adjustable TRACK bar to fix that. The adjustment on the lower arms is for camber and will not help.
I have a 2" leveling kit in mine, it doesn't bother me enough to change the track bar, drives straight and I have no problems.
