2003 Injector Discussion

Okay guys, I had a hard start issue that occurred this summer and after some posting and much reading, learned that a lot of injectors on the 2003 models were having to be replaced.

I did not change my injectors but rather ran double doses of PS and Seafoam through about 5 tanks of fuel now. My hard start issue is gone but I do not know for how long.

Is it possible the hard start issue on the 2003 models is not worn out or defective injectors but rather gummed or stopped up ones?

If so, what is the best fuel injector cleaner to run? Or is it better to just pull em all and give them a good cleaning and re-install?

Is it the ULSD or poor viltration?

Lot's of questions, I have...lol...

The biggest issue with the early injectors is erosion wear from the softer materials used. The injectors start leaking and from that the rail pressure drops, making it harder for the CP3 to develop enough pressure for starting.

The newer Bosch injectors are made from stainless steel and much harder material.

Doesn't hurt to add lubrication to the fuel to mitigate some of the wear, TCW3 two stroke mixture oil is popular.
