2003 diesel 2500
My 2003 dodge have a sluggish forth gear change. The dealer replace the lift pump(I think they install it in the fuel tank)and the truck it run better but I think that the gear is not perfect.Dealer say the transmition is good.I tell them about the band adjustment but they say I don't need one.Is a problem or is my imagination?

The 4th gear shift in a 48RE can be different than you might expect from a modern tranny. These trannies used to have three speeds then, later, the OD was added. It never seems quite as seamless as it should.
I don't know what it might have to do with the engine's lift pump.
The band adjustment relates to second gear. Fourth is OD.

If you noticed a sluggish 4th and the lift pump change made things better, maybe the issue was a lack of engine power which showed as lack of power pulling the OD gear and the resulting jerk or slushy feeling. Any chance you might be able to invest in some gauges to monitor things of high importance, like fuel pressure at the injector pump?
