2002 rear disc brakes

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the rear disc brakes on a 2002 2500?
I have replaced the front pads a couple of times and the rear pads show very little wear. Is this typical? Is the brake portioning valve adjustable?

I don't think disc brakes can be adjusted in the way that drum brakes can.

You can't adjust them. Very little wear is normal as they only provide 10-%15 of total braking unless you are loaded down.

The emergency brake pads are adjustable though, they are actually drum shoes in the inner side of the disc and are adjusted like drums thru the oval hole on the back of the flange by turning the starwheel. My notes say Drivers side down to tighten and passenger side up.

Mine were a real pain and I ended up pulling the discs and lubing the adjuster assembly as the pass side was bottomed out and stuck.

There is a load sensing valve on the rear differential with a rod that goes up to the bed.
Some people tie the rod down to mimic a full load, this provides more braking to the rears which results in a straighter, no nosediving stop and more even pad wear.

2002 doesn't have the valve.

Valve went away when rear disc brakes came out.

Rear discs are not adjustable and the rear pads will last twice as long, if not longer than the front pads.

They will last a long time. And if you live in an area where they salt the roads in the winter then the rear pads will rot apart like mine did a few winters ago.
