Guys i have been going through hell with truck of my dads 02 dodge 2wd quad cab auto tranny engine is bone stock. I have recently put a FASS hpfp 95 gph fuel sytem from vulcan performance with there big line kit is installed now. truck still would shut down after 10 to 15 minutes of driving so i checked codes 1693 and 0230 only ones i had put a scanner on truck no codes were found so everyone i talked pointed toward the vp44 so i called blue chip talked to him told him whats going on he said computer on top on ip is messing up so we got one put it on this weekend got truck running seemed to run good let idle for a while. Well went to bring the truck home last night and cranked it up and it started reving up and down all by itself and then straightened out so we drove it home 3 miles no issues at all so tonight took it out to put a few miles on it and put about 4 miles on it and started reving up and down again and then shut dowm took a while got it fired up drove it allmost home did it again hard starting finally fired and drove it home surging the hole time now and then parked it and it died again. no check engine light was on at all cycled key same to codes nothing knew please guys any help would be great thanks a lot. P0230 Transfer Pump (Lift Pump) Circuit
Out of Range
Problem detected in fuel transfer pump circuits.
Are you sure you are getting fuel pressure from your FASS pump? Easiest way to check is at the Schrader valve at the VP44. My guess is you have an electrical problem somewhere. I would recommend checking all fuses and relays in the fuse box; as well as check and clean all your grounds for good measure.

What are your symptoms exactly? And have you checked for codes? If so what are they?

code p0230 and code 1693

Those are the codes I am getting.. I have changed all filters. Bled the air out.. and swapped out the relay just to check it. I am leaning toward the overflow valve or fuel pump/transfer. The symptoms: a few months ago I was pulling my trailer to go up in the mtns camping. It started sputtering and etc. Got home, changed fuel filter and checked the air filter. problem went away. Then 4 days ago I was driving and it started sputtering like air fuel issue would be in a car, vaccuum or timing.. It does it intermittently through all rpms. A little white smoke ocassionally. I checked all connections. I do not have a fuel pressure gauge yet. I am going to check the pressure in lines next. Any more ideas?

Ran across a strange post that said check voltage at alternator output terminal with AC voltmeter. It was killing his IP computer also.

p0230 code

Well, After much research and checking of wires and fuel flow. I ended up changing the Fuel Transfer pump. The truck seems to be back to normal now.

If you don't already have gauges, you should at the very least get a fuel pressure gauge as these trucks are very sensitive to fuel pressure (or lack thereof actually).
Good to hear it's back up and running correctly.

The P0230n code is caused by the factory lift pump not being plugged in. Using the factory harness to trigger the relay should stop that code.

If that doesn't work, a gauge light shoved into the factory wire harness will. You'll have a light on under the truck, but it will drop the P0230 code.
