What is a 2002.5 Worth
I found a 2002, built in June of 2002, for sale with 115000 miles. It has a HO Cummins, 6spd, 4x4, quad cab, long box, SLT. Inside is nice, out side is ok at best with one dent and brush scratches in the clear coat. The truck has been serviced at the dealer since new with recent brakes and a total fluid service at the dealership. The truck has the death wobble and could use tires. Overall mechanical condition appears to be good and the truck is completely stock right down to the lift pump. So what is it worth on the market today?

Have not looked in a while but, I'd guess around $11,000 .... depending on options?

I sold my 2000 3500 Cummins with 203,000 on it for 9,000.00. It was a six speed, 3:55 gears, leather, heated seats, exhaust brake, bed rails, fifth wheel hitch, flares and boards, original VP44 and on its 3rd LP. I had just put a Southbend Clutch in at 185,000.
With all the problems these 06's have, I'm might try and buy it back.

I agree KBB is not a great source of values but this site is. I could probably get the truck for 12K and it does need about 2K in steering, mechanical and cosmetic upgrades and or repairs.

Agree KBB is just a starting point..... but they do know their vehicles.
Looked it up and they say around $12,000.... private sale. So they are not far off!
FYI - early 02's had CAD. front shaft does not turn full time. Prefered, IMO.

Check for codes to make sure the VP44 is healthy. If you can get a hold of a portable fuel pressure gauge, you can test the pressure at the inlet of the VP44 to make sure all is well. That is the biggest issue on these trucks. Make sure the steering is relatively tight also, but I'm sure you're aware of the Death Wobble. Other than that, it's the standard stuff really. Good luck.

You can buy a FP gauge for $30 from Harbor Freight that will fit if the stock fittings are still in place. Just do a quick search on problems here. All show up...steering fuel pressure, VP, cracked dash etc. Anyone wonder why Dodge is in trouble?

I have seen a few posts lately for guys unsuccessfully looking for 01-02.5 6 speeds 4x4 with no luck. This is the model everyone wants that is for sure. Talk him down so you can spend the $ on steering parts, Airdog, and gauges. Test the FP and test for codes to make sure the VP is in good shape. If it is, you have a winner truck. You can upgrade the front brakes to 3rd gen - HUGE difference.

I ran the SN and found out that the truck has 4:10 gears, ouch. The truck was special ordered with the large rad., trans cooler, arctic insulation and service duty package for the drive train. The IP and LP were replaced by the dealer at 60K and it has been serviced by the dealer. The guy won't budge on his price, says that he has read how desirable this truck is on some web site, DTR.com? I might have to pass on this one, too bad.
