2000 front axel under my 1998 12v
I found a deal on a front axel out of a wrecked 2000 diesel I believe that it should all bolt up and it also has the correct gear ration I need to match my rear end which is now 4.10 (the front axel is 3.55). The reason I am doing this is to be able to do the big brake upgrade. Any input guys?

There is no difference between a 98 and 2000 Dana 60 front differential (other than maybe the gear ration - which you already know about). Should bolt right in for you.

The brakes are different on a 2000 you can just slip the rotors off of the 2000 wear on the 98 you must remove the hub assembly to but a new rotor on from the back side.

Physically, any coil sprung dodge front end will fit under any truck that has a coil sprung front end. I was going to put a D60 form a 3/4 1 ton nder my 1/2 ton. Everything bolts up perfectly. You may have to get different brake lines, but that should be it....

Do you have both rears now?????
Just do a little parts swapping and get it working. You may have to swap sensors,or tone rings, or axle shafts, but the general housing and suspension is all the same.

I'm sorry.....
Even I am confused after reading my post....
What I meant to say was, do you have the diff that you are going to put under your truck already???
If so, put them next to each other and compare them. You should see what will swap and what won't.
But the real answer to your original question is..... Yes the newer differential will bolt right into your truck. all suspension and steering will bolt right up.
You may need to swap abs or brake parts.
