2000 3500 In-tank bypass question

When I put the draw straw in will I have to run a different return line or can I just use the factory one? Also, will the structions tell me which lines to cap off at the tank?? I have been reading that the instructions for the draw straw are not very informative. I would think it would be pretty straight forward except I have the question of the return line and such.

You'll have to cut the return line fitting off the line, so you can slide the piece of hose over it, and onto the barbed fitting on the draw straw. You don't need to cap any lines on the tank. You will remove the pickup tube out of the fuel tank module, and replace it with the draw straw. Once you get in there, it will make more sense.

Okay. Doesn't the tank module stay intact?? I thought you had to drill (with a hole saw bit) off to the side of the tank module and the draw straw gromet went into the new hole that was drilled. I've had the tank module out and I have already taken the screens off of the bottom because they were clogged really bad. The pick-up tube inside the tank module is just that, a pick-up tube. You knew that though. Anyway, my understanding is that the draw straw is totally seperate from the in tank module and that all lines from the in-tank module are severed. This is why I was wondering about the return line back to the tank. I guess the return line could stay hooked up to the in-tank module and the 3/8" outlet could be capped off. Of course I'm pretty sure an in-line filter will have to be used after the draw straw is installed.

Thanks for the replies.

The pickups are just one piece of the fuel module. There is a grommet that holds the pickup in. Pull the tubes out, put the grommet back on the module, and put the draw straw through the grommet. There will be two connections, the big one is the suction, the small one is the return. Just remove the fittings from the stock lines, and hook them up to the draw straw fittings. The only drilling I had to do on mine is the holes on the bottom of the module for the straw to fit through, and the two drain holes. You shouldn't have to drill anything on the top of the module, I didn't.
