went to my local tire guy and told him I wanted some new rims & tires.
He said rep was on the way with all new catalogs and he'd call me tomorrow to come in and check it out, and he'd know what fits what. Told him I wanted to do the leveling kit and use 18" rims with something like 285's. He said 20's are the only way to go, what do ya'll think? I don't mud so I don't need a real aggressive tire so that doesn't worry me, would like a little more ride height and a drop of 300 or so rpms crusing.

You can run a 34-35" tall tire without a leveling kit. It may rub a little at full steering lock but MANY folks do it...I have myself.

With a 285 tire (~33") you would not need a level kit either...but if you wanted one that would be up to you.

A 35" tire would give yu about 2" more ride height than stock both front and rear with a 2" kit up front you'd see a 4" increase up front and still 2 in the rear (with that size tire.)

I am unsure what the 20" rim equivalent is for a 35" tire (most likely a metric size).

35x12.50x20... there are some out there.. if not look for a 325/60/20 [±35.5"]

We installed a set of 20's w/ Toyo low pro's the other day on a 04 Cummins. The customer had a 2" leveling kit w/ 4 new shocks put on also. It rubbed very very slightly at full lock. Customer didn't mind though and it looked **** nice.

Get this, he backed it out of the bay and was taking off and guess what. His lift pump died right there. Had to get towed to the dealer. [yuk]
