2 simple "new to 2nd gen CTD" questions
Just changed the oil on my 95' 12 valve, is it common for the oil to be hotter than any other oil change iv ever done? I drove 5 miles to my fathers shop the temp guage was just barly above 160 and the drain bolt was so hot I had to drop it in the pan. Im talking way hotter than my wife's 2010 Acura TL oil is and hotter than my old '06 duramax oil was!!!! I found this strange and has me worried- the radiator cap and top hose were luke warm to the touch.
Second question, wind shield wiper arms... has my used truck been wrecked and had the hood pushed forward or do all 2nd gen trucks wiper arms hit the hood when trying to put them up during extreme winter ice??
thanks guys!

Don't know about the oil part, mine never seemed to concern me with the temp. As for the wiper part, my 97 was the SAME way and it completely baffled me. Unless I was missing something obvious, I found no way to change the wipers other than holding it about 3 inches off the windshield.

Never checked out why the wipers don't lift all the way but it sucks.
I just use a couple of short pieces of 1x4 to prop them up when needed.
I used to have an oil temp gauge but removed it, too boring.
It would get to the same as the high coolant temp and stay there, usually around 160*°.

same for the wipers here...call it a design flaw....noone saw that coming till they built the truck lol. as for oil im sure it'll get hot fast, cause its running through the turbo. i drive 7 miles to my shop to change oil and the oil is very hot. not to b confused with engine or coolant temps....that's takes a looong time to warm up, especially in the winter.
