2" pvc mount for 2 1/16" gauges
Maybe somebody already discovered this. I don't know if it works for all brands of gauges or not but it works for 2 1/16" Autometer gauges.
A Auto Meter 2 1/16" gauge is a PERFECT fit in a piece of 2" SCH 40 PVC pipe!
No need to screw it in or anything. It slides in and gets tight right at the bezel.
You can cut it to length, take a dremel tool or a die grinder & shape it to mount ANYWHERE. Slash cut it on the end to angle it. The possibilities
are endless.
Drill a hole thru the pvc to get a screwdriver inside to screw it from the bottomside up, such as under the dash.
Scuff it up & paint it to match. Anything other than a black interior may not look so cool, though. Just paint it flat black for all interiors. I'll take it.

a whole foot of 2" sch 40 for 84 cents. Heck, thats enough for at least three
gauges.
Just imagine. I looked at the dash right above the shifter handle. Point the pipe straight back, then turn toward you in the driver's seat at about a 30*- 40* degree angle, tilted up at right at your face. Now, get a miter box & saw,
slash cut it, then take the dremel tool. Grind, fit, grind, fit. You get the picture.
I'm gonna try to make my only gauge, my pyro, fit like this right behind the shifter handle on the lip of the dash & bring all the wiring thru the edge of the radio face plate at the top. Once I fit it, I'll scuff it, paint it flat black & screw
it down to the dash.
Imagine now, three or more gauges mounted side by side, staggered like zoomie headers on a fueler, pointed right at your face on the lip of the dash....
When I get mine done, I'll get a pic up here somehow. I KNOW somebody where I work can do this for me.

Holy crap, that thing looks like a 747 cockpit! There are gauges everywhere! They all look really good though, very clean! I think it is safe to say you have all the gauges anyone could ever want, but how do you look at them all when driving?

I learned how to work on airplanes before I started tinkering with land vehicles, so I'm just keeping in touch with my roots.
I drive like I flew: scan the instruments, scan the horizon, scan the controls... repeat until you park.
The mechanical fuel pressure gauge is mounted between the wipers on the cowl; neither the wipers, the hood nor the windshield washers touch it!
Heck, I'da gone this route if I'da known a whole gauge mount can be had for

You guys are a bad influence on me - giving me too many ideas!

Don't forget the infrared sensors for monitoring the tire's temperature.

Well, Mike - the Smarty showed up at the office today, and the Quad Race won it's 1st race last night - so I think I'll be monitoring the temperature of the clutch lining instead!
