2 Mic Filter Question
Im going to install my Fass pump soon and had a filter question..Can i run a 2mic between the Fass pump and the factory filter housing, then to the Cp3?? What are the Pros and Cons? Thanks in advance

You don't have to have it after the stock filter. I have 2 two micron filters in my toolbox that are fed from my pump, then go to the stock filter canister which I kept only because of the fuel heater. Probably don't even need the filter in there but I run one anyway. Some guys say it's backwards to run the 2mic filter before the 10 or 7 stock filter but it was easier for me because I run two huge CAT filters. They're about a foot long each... no way they'd fit in the engine compartment.

They're saying to stage the filters so you filter progressively better before the fuel makes it to the CP3.
Like on my setup the fuel first goes through a 24 micron strainer at the Glacier pump. Then it is filtered at 7 microns at stock canister. Then it is filtered down to 2 microns using the Glacier kit.
Hopefully the 24 micron unit will catch everything 24 micron and larger. This will allow the 7 micron filter to only have to filter particles in the range of 7 microns to 23 microns. Then the 2 micron filter will hopefully catch everything 2 micron to 6 micron.
This is a way to make sure the filters will last the longest. If I had my 2 micron filter first in line it would have to catch everything 2 microns and larger. If that was the case and the 2 micron filter did filter out everything 2 microns and larger, the 7 micron filter wouldn't catch anything because they're wouldn't be anything in there to catch so what would be the point in having it in the system.
Some folks running a remote mount 2 micron filter will run a line from the stock canister down to a point on the frame to the 2u filter then back up to the CP3.

Still its not necessary. The aftermarket 2mic filters are generally MUCH larger than the wimpy stock one. They can hold alot more junk and filter much better. I have a pre-pump 75micron, then the two CAT's then the stocker. Overkill is just about right for me.

Any of you guys in colder climates (down to -20 or so in the winter) having any gelling problems with your remote mounted filters? Especially when mounting on the framerail, far from the engines heat.

Mine is located under the hood. I drilled and tapped the intake horn for a mount. It is also inbetween the factory filter/heater unit and the cp3. I was concerned about waxing the filter or gelling with it anywhere else. I know I'm only about 90 miles away from trik396, but I'm out where the wind blows with nothing to stop it and no garage. Just wanted all the heat I could get near it!

I used to have it underhood. Now they are mounted in my toolbox. They are out of the elements but it's still brutally cold in there.
-4 this morning when I got off of work. No problems.

Good to know! Just a little too crowded under the hood for me. It's hard enough to get at things in there the way it is now.
