2 lube points

The manual says i have 2 lube points on my 06. The front drive shaft and the outer tie rods. Can someone post pics of what i need to lube and give me a quick explanation on how to do it. I have decieded to to all my own oil and filter changes so hopefully my truck dosent see the dealer for a long time.

Anything else i need to do please post that also.

Check this thread out for the driveshaft.

To lube the tierod ends you just need a grease gun with a zerk fitting. push the fitting on and pump grease in until the old stuff starts coming out. clean up the old grease and your done.

I like the Mobil 1 Fully Syntetic grease...it's pink in color...seems to work great. You got BOTH tie rod end fittings right? There is one on each side...those and the drive shaft fitting are the only ones that we have on these trucks

I use the waterproof Green Grease. Good results on multiple rigs.

I use standard old lithium grease. It specifies which spec lithium grease to use in the service manual.

I used the same stuff this morning. As far as the driveshaft, it's pretty easy if you get the driveshaft just right and use a grease needle. Took about 5 times moving the truck a little at a time to get the driveshaft in the right spot. I really didn't want to remove it.

Yup........

You'll get the hang of it. Just make sure the grease is going inside the zerk (nipple) not everywhere else.
You'll know it when its happening right when you hear the seals "crackle"....thats the new grease breaking the seals and pushing out the old grease.
Dont forget your 06 has a greasable "eye" in the center of the cardan joint.
