2 cylce oil and injectors?
I have the annoying tick, it just started this last year. Ive checked my valves and injector line clamps, just about everything I been able to come up with searching this site. Ive even done the CP3 re-sync hoping that may have something to do with it. Well I tried putting some 2 cycle oil (8 oz/30 gal) and it drastically reduced the ticking. My question is what is going on in the injector that creates the sound? Does this mean my injectors may be on their way out? Truck runs great, mileage hasnt changed since the ticking, and Im not smoking on start up or leaking into crankcase. Just curious.
Thanks

If I understand correctly most of the noise that is associated with a diesel engine is from the injectors. I have been using 16 oz per fill up for the last couple of months. I remember the noise level being reduced some as well. From what I have read it won't hurt and I think I am getting better fuel mileage with the 2 stroke oil in the winter blend fuel. You need to get approx 1/4 to 1/2 mile per gallon increase to cover the cost of the oil and the extra lube doesn't hurt either.

well i use that howe's diesel treatment, i have noticed a decrease in friction when i turn truck off...truck doesnt shut off as violent as it was before i started using it. as far as mpg goes who knows drivin conditions always change but figure cant hurt anything with it in the fuel.

Don't know why you guys want to us 2-stroke oil. Don M has said many times that he does not see any lubrication problems causing injector issues. It is mainly water or excess pressure problems.
