Oil change time
I also questioned this a few weeks ago. I liked the 5k rule. But noticed the manual had 7500 mile change.I did send a sample of my oil at 4047 miles to Blackstone Labs. They noticed high levels of metals in it copper, lead & silicone (normal for break-in). They suggested changing soon and a 6k oil change after. I am getting it changed tomorrow. Cheap insurance as far as I am concerned.

I usually do my first oil change at 1/2 recommended interval (3250 for Cummins) then again at recommended interval (7500). Then I just follow the owners manual, every 7500 miles.
