1st & 2nd gen motors the same?

I just forund a truck!!!!! 95 regular cab 2wd 5spd with 178km's and not a seck of rust!. I have a chance to get a 91 intercooled truck for parts(body shot but motor is still good), what drivetrain parts will swap over to my second gen? I'm thinking that it would be nice to have some spares.

Here's a shot of my new to me truck.

Cheers

I think similar would be the word to use. A side from the obvious pump and injector differences. My understanding is that the 95 head will flow a little bit more air.
This will give a pretty good idea of what is different inside the engines.

BTW nice looking truck, how's the bottom of the doors? It seems they're the first to go.

Reading over the link you gave me, there's not much that can swap. If I can steal it I could use the whole motor as a core for bombing.

As for the bottom of the doors, this truck looks like it's only 1 or 2 years old!! The only body rust I could find is where the running boards have rubbed the paint off.

Cheers

The engines are very close but some changes were made.
I believe the 94 and up has more threaded bosses on the side of the block where the motor mounts hook up. also some of the newer ones have 2 turbo drail locations.
The newer heads are a bit different. They are notched for the bigger P-pump. I believe they have a bit bigger ports. I ported and polished a 95 head and put it on my 92 engine. They will fit.
The front cover is different to mount the different injection pumps as well.
The nozzles in the first gen pop at a lower pressure.
The transmission adapter is different. The first gen takes a different starter which bolts to that adapter.
The turbos are different. The 95 turbo is better than the first gens. The 95 should have an HX35 with a wastegated 12 CM housing. The first gen should have an H1C with a 21 or 18.5 non wastegated housing.
Im sure theres more but this is off the top of my head stuff.

I agree, they have a map width enhancing slot cut in the compressor housing and have the 12cm wastegated housing in stock form.

A 95 should have a WH1C, unless its been replaced, which is equivient to an HX35 in every way except how its put together. WH1C are clamped and HX35's are snap ring. In 96 they started using the HX35.

I just had a look and mine doesn't have the WH1C, it has the HX35W. Could build date have something to do with it having the HX turbo? Is the W anything special or is it just that nobody ever adds it to the end of HX35?

I'm going to see the guy tomorrow, I'll post the price and se if it's worth it.

Cheers

HX35 started in 94 although a few 94s did have the older turbo. The W is unimportant.

The "W" stands for wastegated.
