1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Abs Code 37!!!!!

i bought a 99 dodge diesel slt laraime ext cab 4x4. the abs light and brake light are on, the brakes are fine. although when i bought the truck it needed a brake line, i thought thats why the lights were on but i tried to reset the system and it didnt work. i checked all the connections and nothing. i found some wires under the dash and i was messing with them and the light went off. and when i started it, it came on then i wiggled another one and the wait to start light stayed on, i think there was a alarm attached/ so any help would be greatly apprieciated

The part cost $35 and is easy to change out, worth a shot. Many people have had similar problems with ABS and Brake Light coming on and was solved by replacing the sensor. Otherwise, you would have to take it to the dealer and have them access the ABS system with the DRB tool. I would go the less expensive route first.

I must have missed that part in your original post. Sounds like you have it under control.

Just because the speedo works doesn't mean your speed sensor is working properly.

Read post number 15, it might help give you a clearer understanding of why I say that.

Not to mention I had the same problem, ABS and Brake light were on and the speedo still worked. I took the advice from RattlinRam and bought the new sensor. Everything works great!

Good Luck with whatever route you decide to take...

Yep,,,,,
Sounds like ya got some wiring loose. Bummer! I don't envy you trying to find it. There ain't much room to lay upside down and try to work under the dash. I don't know how hard it is to get the lower dash panels off and taking the cubby-hole out (if you have one) may help see up in there. I guess looking for spliced wires or wires grounded out or wires that may have been rubbing on the brake & clutch pedal arms would be in order.
I think I would rather rebuild a motor than mess with electrical problems,,, and I always remember that anything electrical comes with SMOKE built in and the trick is NOT to let it out! Getting access to a Dodge shop manual with the wiring diagram will help too. If you have wires that are not connected, maybe one of the members with a book can tell you what color goes where. I think that Shovelhead has a manual for a 99.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

the readings where like 19 ohms or something.. i noticed my third brake light was burnt so i replaced the bulbs and reset the abs fuse but the light came right back on... so i smacked the fuse panel in rage and the abs light went off. comes back on periodically but i found it will go off if you hit the panel right below the steering column... weird...
