It seems that 16mpg is about all the better I can get... empty... on the highway. My truck is not equipped w/ a monitor, than is figured with pen and paper. Maybe it's time for a new air filter but still, shouldn't i get a little better mileage? Is it the 315's?

Yep sounds about right. I usually get around 14-17 depending on how im driving. I see you have the 6 speed, so you have the 4.10's, right?? The lift kit, bigger tires and your cattle catcher doesnt help the fuel economy.

Thats my average as well.
Ive hand calculated every fuel fill-up and in the past ~5 years, I average 16.8.
Yes, almost all of that is empty driving.

Same here....16.5 - 17 mpg. 16.7 on my last 1000 mile test. I haul medium to heavy about 15% of my miles but no towing in that figure.

Greenwing - If not adjusting for 35" tires....add approx. 10%.... to your indicated speed and your mileage.

if you don't mind experimenting a little ,build your own propane "kit"..... i did and improved my mileage from around 16 to over 22, pm me and i'll send pic's of my setup

my average for around here where i live is between 15-17, and if i can keep it at 65 on the hwy, i can get between 19.3-20 mpg. thats all empty, except for the toolbox and the "light weight" ranch hand on the front.

How much of that 6mpg increase was from coverting to SRW and how much was from the propane?

my mileage just before i started useing propane ( about a month ago) was around 16 , not more than 17 . just after i got rid of the extra wheels (3 years ago) it improved but i can't remember exactly how much..... it seems like it was 2 mpg better pulling my trailer (i haven't pulled with propane yet)

Well I am speaking of empty. I guess I need a way to adjust the speedo for the 35in. tires. But HOW? It never dawned on me. My speedo still says 70mph-2,000rpm. No change there, but maybe when my speedo says 70, I'm really doing faster, that or I'm driving more miles than what the odometer says??? Is there a way to correct this?

Dealership can flash the new size tire into the computer, or you can get an aftermarket speedometer corrector (Superlift Truespeed is what I had), or if you get a Smarty, it can set the correct tire size.

If I remember my past experience correctly... going from 265's to 315's, at 64 mph indicated you are actually going 70 mph, and driving more miles than odometer says.... thus a low mileage figure.

A friend recently went to the local dealer and was quoted $70.00 to correct the speedo for his 35" tires. I know they have overhead and expensive equipment, but....
He put that money towards a Smarty and has been very happy!

Yep, about right. You'll feel a little better when you adjust for the 35's which puts you in the 17.5 range. That's really pretty good for mixed driving with big tires etc.

Don't mean to steal the thread, but can any body help me with calculation issue I am having. Speedometer says 75 I am actually going 71MPH. I got 16.5mpg last tank but I think it is actually less due to the speedo being off. Thanks for any input

I don't know of any rig running 4.10's in the rear end that gets "good" mileage. You want the best possible mileage then the 3.55 ratio is the one to have. I'm getting over 21 mpg average back and forth to work on a 60 mile round trip. I suppose on a long one with the cruise control on, slightly over the speed limit it would even go up a bit from there. But when it comes to mileage the 3.55's are the way to go. Stump pulling or heavy hauling then give me the 4.10's.....
