160HP P-Pump limitations?

I'm wondering how much fuel have people pushed out of their 160HP pumps reliably?

What amount of fuel is needed to reach #600-675HP/1000+ TQ?
And can the #160 pump be sufficient up to those numbers?

What am I looking at price wise to get this pump push 300-400CCs of fuel, what needs to be replaced? Plungers, barrels?

Note; I am not looking to "buy" a performance p7100, I am looking to get mine on the bench behind the propper mechanic and letting them work it.

So if you wanna point me in a different direction IE - 180,215 pumps, then please offer information as how they compare to the 160.

Thanks in advance

The 160 should flow plenty for 600hp without ever coming off the truck with the right injectors, pusher pump, DV's, turbo, etc.

You can get a reman 215 for under 1000$ if you look around. I think the pressures are a little higher than the 160. Might change the fueling a little versus a 160 with good injectors. Could always just try injectors alone and see what you think. Youll need more air soon and probably want to o-ring/stud and get 60lb springs then.
Im going for a small increase with a set of DDP2 or 3's and match them with a phat shaft 62 later on. Trying to stick with a smaller single for the spooling.
My pump might be a little tired, no cheap way to find that out unfortunately.
Or maybe there is? worth a post..

Thanks for the information regarding the reman 215.

Head is O-ringed, 12MM Studs, #60 lb valve springs.
Plan on putting a SPS62 here in the very near future a long with a set of 435's, or Hot Rod 370s. Will also be running a Helix II Cam.

Does anyone know the flow differences on a 160 VS 215?

The pumps have different cams in them, which is the main difference from everything I have heard. You can have your pump calibrated for about $500 or less, and supposedly a tweaked 160 is better than a tweaked 215.

I looked at doing what you are talking about: 913 pump (215hp) vs send out my 160 to have it "tuned". I sent mine to Scheid, and I don't think they replaced internal parts (like cam, plungers, barrels, etc), but they did enhance it somehow (trade secret stuff I'm sure), and reset the timing.

Before I sent it out I dyno'd 325 hp at the wheels (David Dunbar's DynoJet)with 370s and off the shelf parts in the pump and a WH1C (older HX35). This was on 40" tall 18" wide Boggers (TONS of rolling resistance & weight), so "real" numbers were probably a little higher.

After I got it back, it will put out 385 to around 500 to 550ccs (don't remember exactly). With a S300 62/14, and bigger injectors (5@.016 I think), and a fire ringed head and thicker gasket, I dyno'ed 425hp - on the same tires & dyno - with the pump set at 400ccs and the turbo wastegated at 40 psi. There's plenty left in it I'm sure - I will try it on "little" radials later this year and then turn up the fuel. Oh - no pusher pump either for what it's worth.

Long story short, yes, I think a 160 pump will put down a good 600+ hp with the right combo. I have no doubt Garmon did what he claims - he is good - but for the rest of us, he should have a "results may not be typical" disclaimer in his sig.

For what it's worth I would seriously consider 14mm studs while you are at it. I blew my fire-ringed head gasket 4 TIMES with the 12mm studs when I first got it all back together. 14mm solved it permanently.

Anyway - the cost of buying a recon 913 pump vs sending mine (160hp)to Scheid was almost the same (Scheid I think waas actually a little less), and I'm happy with the results - good people there that can answer questions - not just a reseller/rebuilder that sells recon pumps. Hope this helped.
