150k On S-belt Think Its Time To Change Need Help

150k On S-belt Think Its Time To Change Need Help

NOT SURE WHAT TO DO . Its so cramed in there .dont no where to start . Also think i should change tensioner, bought gatorback belt .i can not find a digram to help. seems easy but dont want mess it up. This a 04 5.9 w/ac

Here is a diagram of the belt routing. It's a good idea to replace the idler pulley and tensioner while you are at it. Hope this helps.

hi thanks looks like i might have too remove the fan shroud to get to the tensioner off any more info you might have would be great

You can do it from the bottom without removing the shroud..

I had to replace mine at about 70000 and put new bearing in the idler pulley. Wasnt too bad took about an hour to do it all

s-belt help

I did it today took bit longer than i wanted but thankfully my neihbor came 2 talk then started to help one man job turned in to a 2 man job he pointed out y i was stuck . only thing is cant get a torq rench in to the tensor bolt to get the write torq to the bolt what should i do ?

Isn't it amazing how an extra set of eyes and hands can make a job go so much more smoothly.

Which bolt are you talking about? One that holds the tensioner to the engine? If so then I wouldn't worry about torqing it too precisely, just get it tight.

that's funny..............tighten the bolt in a manner consistent with good workmanship..........all bolts don't need to be tightened with a torque wrench

The list of ones that do is much shorter than the list of those that don't.
