When looking for a set of gauges for my 1996 3500 12V should I be looking for an EGT gauge with 1500 or 2400 degree calibration? How about the boost and tranny gauges? It seems like the items available from Glow Shift may be the way to go and they have all different kinds. It's just a little confusing. Any help is appreciated!
By the way does anyone else here like the thought of monitoring the oil and fuel pressure in these old 12V engines?

First, tell us about the truck. Is it an auto or manual tranny? Does it have any modifications done to it? What do you use it for?

Two most important guages on a 12 valve: Exhaust Temp, Boost.

If its an AUTO tranny: Tranny temp is a must.

If the truck is bone stock and you dont tow, you may not NEED guages, but they're nice to have for piece of mind.

If the fuel system is stock: A low fuel press. indicator light will be sufficient,
If the fuel system is modified: A fuel press. guage may be helpful.

i got the 1500.....pistons melt before that anyhow so the 2400 is not needed IMO just showin ya how over heated ya can really get it i guess I always back out of mine round 1250

FP is a great gauge for diagnosing problems. 0-60psi is ideal, I've got a 0-100 in mine. Boost, atleast a 0-60, unless you are positive you are leaving it stock. Don't kid yourself here. Pyro, 1500 degrees is generally sufficient. If you are going beyond 1500, you are usually ignoring the gauge anyway, like when on a dyno/race/sled pull.
