12 volt hookup

my battery was dead on my tt and i needed lights and to move the slide in in

so i hooked the power cord from camper to truck thinking this would give me 12 volts to the camper

still nothing worked :'(

what did i do wrong ???

is it not supposed to have 12 volts on it all the time ???

did i need the switch on or the truck running ???

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

Re:12 volt hookup

Please explain what you mean when you say you hooked the power cord from the camper to the truck. Do you mean you just plugged it into the plug on the back of the truck? The plug on my truck does have power on at all times on one pin. If this is the first time you did this maybe your camper plug is wired differently to the truck plug.

Re:12 volt hookup

yes the cord from the camper that carries the brakes, turn signels tail lights

i hooked it in the plug in the bumper hoping to draw off my truck batteries

would not even light the 12 volt lights in the camper

maybe there is a fuse or something that is blown either on truck or camper

last time i pulled it home i noticed my tt batteries was reading low after about a 3 hour pull home

thought this was strange but it must not have been charging them coming home

Re:12 volt hookup

Did it work before? Or is this a new trailer for this truck? Check for power at the truck plug, pin #6. Ground is pin #1. Pin #6 is fused.

Re:12 volt hookup

i dont know if it worked before or not

had a 02 and traded for this 03 back in may

it worked on my 02 so i just took for granted that my 03 would do the same

maybe i am wrong

i am going out now to check for power on that plug

the tt is an 02 so it should be campatable with truck wiring

Re:12 volt hookup

I like them. Got them in San Antonio, Tx. Four for the price of one. Can't remember the price but if you really need to know will hunt for the invoice. Actually there is a small chance I may have them for sale soon. I am considering some suspension mods which may force me to get another kind of shock.

Re:12 volt hookup

Check in your TT for a disconnect switch for the battery. It could be anywhere depending on TT type.
