1 3/8" input shaft install and nv4500 strength

I just orderd a input shaft and DD clutch for my nv4500. After getting of the phone with a good 4x4 place the guy said that most if not all of those input shafts are poorly machined and have a poor fit. I've never takeing the transmition out let alone apart. Has anyone else ever heard of this trouble with the upgraded input shafts? And does anyone have any tips or advice for doing an install. Lastly what about strength on the 4500? with an estimated 525-550 RWHP and 39" michilin XL tires am I going to blow it up? Is there another transmition I can get thats not a 5600 that will mate up to the motor and nv241 transfer case or that I can put a stronger t-case on that I can get insted? I'm starting to think maybe I should sell off all the performance stuff and just go with a stock motor, #10 plate and con ofe.

Thanks for your advice guys
Chris

Went to Peters DD and upgraded 1 3/8 shaft over 3 years ago and have thrown almost 700 to the ground with no problems!! Don't worry about it you chose a winning combo.

Thanks for the encurougagement. I've never heard of this ill fitting input shfat problem and with all the people running SBC inputs I couldnt imagine it would be such an issue and no one ever spoke up.

Did you or anyone else install your own input shaft and did you have to adjust the shims for the bearing preload or did you just bolt it in and go?

It takes the removal of 4 bolts to put it in. I unbolted the retainer off the front of my case, pulled the stock one out, stuck the new one in, and LIR'ed it. (stands for Let It Ride) Worked great until my transmission ran low on oil and ate all the teeth off the input shaft gear. No input shaft fitment problems at all.
