if i remember right, it's between 6 and 7 quarts. i've done mine 2x so far. i buy seven and just fill to the bottom (or a shade below) of the filler hole. friction modifiers aren't recommended or needed for the g56. synthetic atf+4 is really all that is needed.

changes gears smoothly. i have a little over 20k on it. i do the tranny every 10k. i know, that's a lot, but i tow every day, and am a big believer in preventative maintenance.

It's a little notchier than the NV but overall just as good a transmission. It's a little harder to find that "sweet spot" though for a smooth shift than it is on the NV, but after a couple hundred miles you get a feel for her and you are as smooth as glass.
