06 Truck freaked out!!
yesterday, middle of the afternoon, i hop in my truck. before i get a chance to stick my key in, the horn starts blowing. i wasnt touching the steering wheel. it went on like that for about a min, i tried everything, try to start it, turn it to accessorie, pound the sttering wheel a couple of times nothing. i finally jump out of the truck to pull the batter cables and i shut my driverside door. shuts off, i get back in and the light is on that say door is ajar. i tried shutting all the doors. i took it home and pulled the battery cable, and the dang door ajar light went away. what did i do to it and should i get it check out, or is this normal did i just do something to **** it off?

Sounds like you pushed the Panic Button on the keyfob or you had the security system enabled and for some reason it did not shut off before you got in.....

i dont have an alarm that i am aware of...when you push the panic button it normally pulsates the horn. what happened to me is it was a consent output. like somebody holding there hand on the horn. I did put the key in, tried to start it, and nothing (the truck wouldnt even start). after it finally shut off (by me getting out and shutting the door) and i thought things were normal my door ajar light was on constintly tell i reset it by unhooking the grounds.

this is what i am saying. Problem is i am not sure if i should reload my superchips or not. i took it off after all this happens just incase of warranty work. you think it will happen agian? or should i give it a couple of days. i hate drving this beast around without a chip.

is it inconvenient to go to the dealer? if it is close and you have the time, it may be worthwhile to go in and that way it will be documented. They of course will say, could not duplicate the problem.

good idea, guess i will make an appointment for tommrow. Maybe i will try to get them to activate the high idle for me AGAIN!. anything i should do as far as making sure they dont see the superchips programmer? (already installed the stock program)

Mine will do it if I open the door almost simultaniously as I hit the key fob to unlock it. kinda like I opened the door quicker than the computer can tell itself that I hit the button on the keyfob to unlock it so dont go off 'cause its me kinda thing.....I can do it everytime once I figured out what was going on.......

hmm...that is wierd, guess i will try and go duplicate. i was already sitting in the truck when it went off, but i am wondering if it was the passenger door that did it.

haha, i dont know, when i was in highschool i picked some random name to search the helpchat forums. Now 5 years later, it has stuck with me. i never intended to actually post, just wanted information, but after time, i started posting and never really changed it. I use this name on about 6 different forums....not all dodge related. it is a universal name that will make people wonder WhyTF did he pick that name?
