06 megacab exhaust?

looking at my exhaust noticed at the bend over the rear diff a short type muffler???? any idea what this is??????

I just did my exhaust & left it on. It is a straight through design, staying 4" inside. Here is a photo. It is all sooty and kind of hard to see. This is after cutting the muffler off and taking a photo from the front of the resonator towards the bend above the axle.

OK, the same photo can't be attacked twice to this forum (I understand that).
