I just installed a 5" turbo back exhaust without a muffler on my truck and boy is it loud. Not only is it loud it sounds totally different than my buddies 05 with the same exact system. Mine is louder, but his has a deeper tone which I like. I have also noticed that our turbos sound a little defferent too especially coming out of the pipe. Why is this? Has anyone else noticed that 06s are louder?

04.5 and up trucks have the same turbo's, so that shouldn't be any different... Now, if your fueling harder than him, yours will sound different. Try a after market turbo, nothing beats that deep tone!!!

They don't have mufflers they are straight piped.

Do both trucks have the stock lift pumps?

It may be possible that the '06 is fueling a little harder & causing it to be louder.

What about the intake sides both being the same as well?

Otherwise I would have to guess cuz the engines weren't assemblied together at the same time the same way that it would be the reason.

I've hear of two same year truck same set-up with 90hp inject where one would need to upgrade the injector pump & the other did not.

It might be your injectors, mine was really loud idling (and driving) until I had my injectors replaced. Injectors play a big role in these trucks, my new injectors fixed my overhead console which was showing 35mpg, my rev down problem, all the knocking and pining, and the excessive smoke.
