06 Hard to move from park, TDR mag - which connector to disconnect?

06 Hard to move from park, TDR mag - which connector to disconnect?

In the latest TDR mag, it describes the hard to move from park issue that I'm having, common fix was to remove the safety park connector from the steering column, I hear it click every time I put it in park and roll forward a bit.

I looked under the steering column and theres a bunch of connectors, which one should I disconnect, black one?

I'm having this issue also...I thought the issue was in the valve body, so I just deal with it. If it can be fixed by simply unplugging a connector, I'd like to know which one too...

Better to set the parking brake and not let it roll forward when in park.

Yep, they don't just put it there so that you have another pedal to mash on.

The issue is in transmission were the selector moves to engage different valves for different passages. The selector likely has a sharp edge on the initial position of park. If you ever have your valve body pulled tell them about your problem and they can die grind the edge a little smoother.

I use my parking brake religiously, and have had the problem for a while now

You can try it and see if that helps, commonly thats not the issue on the 06's. The issue is in the VB casting that wears too much.

However, the brake interlock can be a problem at times but I don't think unplugging it is going to help as I believe sits default is locked and needs power to unlock.

Those two statements don't match.

Set the parking brake. Take your foot off the brake pedal. Then shift to park. If I'm on a hill, I stop the gear selector in N for a sec, then shift to park.

Two different posters putting trucks into park two different ways, and the problem is still there.

I always put my truck in neutral, set foot brake, then put into park.

It makes no difference if you set the parking brake, don't set it, use the foot brake, chock the wheels, or even stand on your head whistling dixie.

Its not the parking pawl thats the problem and its generally not the cable thats the problem. If the trans comes out of park when you step on the foot brake, no matter how hard it is, the interlock is working. That being said I have seen people try to take it out of park BEFORE stepping on the brake and wonder why it was so hard and took so long.

Step on the brake for at least a count of 2 before trying to shift, if it still sticks its probably the detent ball in the VB has worn the casting oblong and is jamming.
