06 cab
I know this is performance only but I talked to my dealer that went to the vegas show and saw the new rams he said the are putting a bigger cab for sure 10 " on the inside was found and the nose looks more similar to the dakota front end with more slope. they called it the mega cab and will advertise it as the biggest cab on the market. he said it will take getting used like the transition to the new 3rd gens. was not sure on the trans or motor just rumer about 6.0 and the git-trac tranny but the cab was a done deal according to him.

As mentioned the Mega-Cab is a done deal. It's coming like it or not. The freshened front end is also coming, nothing else I've heard is definite. Oh, and it's more like 20" more in the cabin with rear seats that recline and have space behind them.

So will it replace the current q-cab? or will there be 3 options in '06; single, quad, and mega...
Sorry if I wanted an suv size cab I would buy an suv. Not interested in spending 3-5k more for something I don't need IMHO. I'm perfectly happy with the current configuration.

The Mega-cab will probably cost Mega-bucks.
Chevy and Ford full crew cabs with the diesel option are very pricey, more money than similarly equipped Dodge Quad cabs.

I've heard nothing about a "6.0" motor, I think we can toss that rumor out for it's complete lack of sensibility. Certainly wouldnt be using a International engine and redesigning for a 0.1 liter gain would be pointless. There is a Cummins 6.7 liter engine that exists currently that has been rumored to be a possibility. That could be a nice step up from the 5.9. The new 6 speed manual transmission is NOT a Getrag transmission, it is built in house and has been in use on larger trucks for sometime apparently. The jury is out on it's reliability but I wouldn't be at all suprised to see it doing as well or better than the NV5600.

Yeah i bougt the 04.5 expecting 10+ years of service out of her. Which shed do. BUT The truck will be worth the most compared to loss in tghe next 2 years, So ill pry trade it for a mega cab. Dont have kids or family now. But who knows what 3 years brings
Also, Maybe this 6.0 isnt the diesel. Maybe its the big boy hemi?

Hi All,
I am new to the board and this is my first post. I was just going to comment that I read or saw or heard something about the mega-cab, but don't remember where. I believe it is going to be 20" longer than the current quad cab, but it would only be available with a short bed on the long bed frame truck. In other words, using the same two frames that Dodge uses now with the current quad cab, but you can opt to have the space in the bed or in the cab. Or just get the SBQC. Correct me if you know otherwise. Since I have had mine just a few months, I doubt I will be getting a mega-cab anytime soon.
IM getting quite an education about our favorite trucks trying to keep up with everything yall are talking about on this forum. This is my first Dodge and my first Diesel. So far no regrets.

The Mega cab's overall length is the same as a quad cab with a long (8 foot) bed.
Except the Mega cab has the short bed (6.25 foot).
The difference in the bed length, 21 inches, has been added to the cab.
So the Mega cab's cab length is 21 inches longer than the Quad cab.
I got this info directly from a Dodge engineer who works in the Ram design group.
