I guess I'm getting to old, I'm ordering a muffler today. It's to loud for me, I have too much drone at 75mph. At 65 its very quiet but I cant drive that slow

put some stiffer exhaust hangers on it, and add some sound deadener in the cab...
no offense to any 3rd gen owners, but I don't like the way the 3rd gens sound w/ an aftermarket muffler... too much flutter...
but they sound good straight piped!

I would go with the Genos MEP. My wife even said it's not to loud.
I guess it all depends on your background as I am a hotrodder/drag racer I wish it were up a few dbs
If you like loud and fast cars/trucks/motorcycles you will think it's too quiet with the MEP. BUT... If you like the stock vehicle sound you will think it's to loud.
To each his/her own!

bah, I'm smack dab in the middle of a suburban area with annual smog testing... you're not gonna get hassled up their under the big sky...
if anything, just gut the cat and run a straight pipe through it... win/win

I straight piped mine... I like the way it sounds and with the silencer removed and an intake on there... it's awesome.
Here's before and after the muffler removal... startup at idle and a startup and reving it.

These are on a geocities page... so it may not download after a few downloads because of data trasnfer limit.

I just finished installing a Magna-Flow straight-thru Stainless Steel muffler into to my Geno's straight pipe. I just asked for the shortest version they had, which I believe is 18" and it fit perfect into the staight pipe with just a little cutting and welding.
I'm very happy with the sound now. I'd say it is right in middle noise wise between stock and the straight pipe.
