04.5 lift pump

is the lift pump in fuell tank an if so why .on some posts i have red pumps are mounted near fuell filter . seems like out side of tank would be much beter for replacing when bad. and if in tank is that the way to keep it? sotex

They were mounted on the fuel filter housing from the factory.They were replaced with the in tank version as a repair when/if the stock one failed.If yours was replaced under warraty or by dealer there will be a sticker under the hood that says somthing like fuel system modified from stock.Mine was replaced at about 63,000 under warranty and replaced with the in tank version.I'm now at approx 165,000 and no problems.

i will look for sticker ,i bought this truck 58ooo miles now 98000 . aperes to be in tank becouse i hear it ramping up wile wating for thinigey in dash coil ie heater to go of.sotex
