Same problem

We have an 03 with the same problem. We have changed Injector pump, Lift pump, pedal sensor, Fuel contral Actuator, and Fly wheel sensor. Truck still has problem starting and losing power. Just this morning we had to give her a shot of starting fluid. All of this has been done at local Dodge dealer and they final give up on this truck. we have had the fuel tested for bact. three times and it has been clean each time.

Yes, we just tried the key code it show P0251. We didn't know you could get a code by doing it that way because Dodge said this truck was not showing a code. But after reading some of the other post we tried it.

SYMPTOM
P0251-CP3 PUMP REGULATOR CONTROL

WHEN MONITORED
When the ignition is on.

SET CONDITION
The ECM detects a discrepancy between the PWM supplied to the Electronic Fuel control actuator and the PWM returned from the Electronic Fuel Control Actuator.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
  • Intermittent condition
  • Fuel Control Actuator
  • Return wire open from FCA to ECM
  • Supply wire open From FCA to ECM
  • Supply circuit shorted to voltage
  • ECM
hallsbobcat have they tried a ECM on your truck yet
cause that sounds like thats might be where your at
also check ALL your wiring harnesses

Check all your fuses! I think the FCA is on a fused circuit.

Is the FCA clicking when you turn the key on? I think it should have at least one click? Check those wires from the FCA to the ECM and like 53willys said, it very well could be the ecm.

We just found a wire @ the ECM that is White with an orange stripe on it and it is located on the side of the ECM.
It go's into the wiring plug second from the front and it has been cut and spliced. It is also showing bare wire. Do, you Know what this wire go's to?

What color is the plug on the ecm? There are only two. And which pin position? They are numbered on the front.
