OK, So I just bought a truck...finally.. It was worth the wait. I have a question that for some reason my dealer can't answer, hopefully someone here can..What is the differance between an SLT, and an SLT Plus??? It seems to make some sort of differance to my insurance company.

AHH another 2wd member. Welcome to the club. There isn't an engine performance difference with the titles. The SLT plus just makes the truck have more features than a SLT or ST.

Here are some standard features on a SLT plus

Leather
Woodgrain dash
Security System
Infinity sound system
Power seats driver and pass
Heated seats driver and pass
Power windows and locks
Over head computer with compass, temp, mpg, lights
visor vanities
Forged wheels
Remote Keyless entry
Fog lamps

I assume you have all these??

That is weird that they ask that??

I hope this helps

The insurance may reduce the rate if the truck came with a factory alarm.
I have had a Toyota Celica in the past that came with the factory alarm and that lowered the insurance rate.

Just a guess.

OK.. Thanks for the info. it was advertised on the internet as an SLT plus but obviously it is just an SLT.. no leather, security system, cd, or steerin wheel stereo controls. However it is still a very nice truck! I may be out of my mind for buying a truck without 4wd. but for the price I paid, I will try to stay out of situations that will get me stuck. I am more concerned with fuel economy for now. THANKS AGAIN !!

Around my area, the snow lasts about an hour then the streets are clear!!!

I looked at it this way, I went from buying a stripped work truck 2wd to a nicely equipped SLT 2wd!! I got what I could afford. Actually all I wanted was 4 wheels, a seat, and a CTD engine. I have avoided "sticky" situations for the past 3 years now!! I am sure someone here will say "OHH I HAD TO USE 4wd ONCE AND IT WAS WORTH IT!!
Again good luck with your new ride. You will love it!

My truck stays in 4WD for weeks at a time during the winter months.

Where you live makes all the difference.

I have a 2002 SLT. I have all the stuff listed above except leather and woodgrain dash. I can tell you from looking at hundreds of classifieds that all ST's or SLT's are not created equal. I've seen SLT's without carpet or power seats. Some SLT's have overhead computers, some don't. Go figure!

I picked the truck up today, and I couldn't be much happier. Dealer I bought it from is 200 miles away so I got a chance to put a fair amount of miles on it. t has 33 rounds on the odometer and after resetting the computer and driving it home and around town tonight, it shows that it is averaging 23.2 mpg. I guess I am satisfied with that. May just pull the silencer ring and muffler off of it and see what that does!!

I have an SLT and I do not have a comp. either or power seats. They key word with the SLT plus is "standard features. Which some are options on just a SLT.

Exactly!!!

I do not even get a chance to have fun in 2wd,the streets get plowed and cleared quicker every year.

I mean do not get me wrong I love the look and the ability of a 4x4 Cummins but it wasn't in the price range. To ease my pain I say ,"have I ever really needed it??" Like I said I avoid areas that require 4x4!!
