Is there a trick to getting the calipers and the adapter off? The bolts for the adapter are 18mm and I could not get them loose with my impact wrench ( I hope they are not left hand threads).
Do the bearings need to be serviced like any other (remove, repack, replace)? Or are these sealed bearings?
I have a manual on CD (it's clear as mud) and have changed brakes many times, but never on a heavy duty vehicle and never seen one with the calipers mounted on an adapter bracket.
And I am guessing the locking nut holding the rotor on is to only be slightly snugged just like most others (this is not even addressed in my manual, glad I only paid $10)?
Sorry to sound so stupid, but I would rather not find out by having to have it towed because I screwed it up. But I don't want to take it to a shop.

You just need to remove the 2 slider bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket. If I remember right, mine is a LARGE torx head type socket. You will probably need to pry the piston back into the caliper b4 removing it cause the pads tend to wear just below the outer edge of the rotor. BEFORE you pry on the piston be sure to remove cap on brake reservoir. You could damage seals in master cylinder by not removing it.

I have done 4 pad jobs on the front of my truck and I have yet to have to turn the rotors. Still within spec and have no hard spots on them.

As for bearings...... I don't have a clue about 2wd
