01 performance ideas

One of my brothers has an 01 that he is modding and I am trying to give him educated advice. The truck is a 2500 qc sb 4x4 auto. Currently, he has a drop in filter, 100 horse pump and a Dr. Performance chip ( I think.... there's no controller or anything and he doesn't really know anything about it, just that a friend gave it to him). Does anyone know anything about this module? Anyway, his tranny is feeling the pain of the upgrades, so this is what he is planning: tc and vb, possible input and flexplate, 3rd gen turbo, adreniline w/pulse, possible injectors. Does this sound like he's on the right track? Truck is a daily driver that rarely tows.

Generally, it's exhaust (4"), intake (BHAF or similar), upgraded lift pump, gauges (boost, pyro, fuel pressure, trans temp), performance chip/programmer, transmission (built with billet input shaft), injectors/turbo upgrade. With a good chip and everything short of the turbo/injector upgrade he should be able to run a 0-60 in the sixes and a 1/4 mile in the 14-15 second range, IMHO. After all, it's only money....

I don't know anything about his module, though....

Don't worry about a flexplate on his 2nd Gen. Not needed till over 700 hp!
100 hp pump?? you mean Hot Rod VP-44 Fuel Pump?
Over 400 hp, or 40 psi boost, will need O-ring and studs on the head.

DR Performance is, I believe a 60 hp module. It increases timing and includes a boost fooler. He can give it back whan he gats the Adrenaline.

I would do Gauges and Tranny first..... than play with the power.

Yeah, I just got a new OEM flex plate, but billet input shaft... Concur, gauges are a MUST!

I forgot to mention that he has a 4" exhaust that he will install and kill the cat. So, you think that WITHOUT the injectors and turbo upgrade he can still do a 14 second 1/4? That should make it real fast if he does say 100 horse injectors and a third gen turbo!

No CAT on an '01, just a resonator and muffler.

I think on that point a lot depends on the performance chip and tire/gear ratios....

The chip will most likely be the adrenaline with pulse. I think he has 285's and the higher gear ratio not 4:10's
