I know these arent running boards and Im not really answering your question - but, have you ever seen the Kodiak Sidewinder steps??? they are about the coolest thing Ive seen.

Too bad you don't ahve a second gen, my son is getting ready to take a set of home made ones off his truck. They are very well constructed too.
