anyone made their own running boards?

I can't seem to find running boards for my dually that i like. I want somthing with a wide flat stepping surface and about 3 inches of vetical surface on the outboard edge to mount running lights. I also want black to go with the black accessories on my truck. I've seen the Putco S.S. boards but they are not quite what I want. I ve been thinking about making my own out of steel and clamping it somehow to the frame. Anyone ever done this? pics?

Too bad you don't ahve a second gen, my son is getting ready to take a set of home made ones off his truck. They are very well constructed too.
