Another Headlight Mod Question
Hey all,
I recently installed the sport headlight mod on my 98.5 using the two schematics posted by Mopar-or-No-Car last January.
I used this one as well for my setup.
Just wondering, do the 9007's look like they are on high when selected low and vise-versa? I could swear this is the case yet have checked the diagram tripple times.
It's a no brainer from the OEM socket, low is the center pin. I'm sure I have the relays correct.
If you've done this mod, do your 9007's look like they are on high at the low setting?
cheers,
Taz

What I think your seeing is the difference in wattages between the 9004 and 9007 bulbs.
9004 bulb is 45 watt low/65 watt high and 700/1200 lumens respectively
whereas
9007 bulb is 55 watt low/65 watt high but 1000/1350 lumens respectively.
The 9007 low beam is almost as bright as the 9004 highbeam when you look at it from an output side.
I thought the Sport headlights used the same bulb low and high side? Can't remember of hand if it's both 9004 or 9007?

It's not just the brightness here. If I park against a wall and cover the 9004 inboards it certainly looks as though the beam is higher on low.
Anybody try this after doing the mod to confirm?
Cheers,
Taz

I've done it, although I built my own harness. Highs are high, lows are low. all 4 bulbs should be brighter on high beams..
Did you manage to switch the 9004 and 9007 bulb harnesses? They are the same plug with a different orientation. Almost sounds like you are feeding the 9007 backwards.

Dunno, checked that diagram over and over again.
I also built my own harness, is your low feed to the 9007 the most outer wire on the passenger side connector plug?

You have a meter or a test light? If not, get one. Then ignore the diagram for a few min, and just make sure you have power to the correct pins at the correct time (both bulbs).

This matches the bulb pin setup on my other schematic and my installation as well.

Too much solder paste smoke...........
