99 not warming up good

my 99 dodge is not getting very warm.going to install a new stat tomorrow. 140 or up to the fist low line on the gauge.got 200k on it.i cant remember ever covering up the rad. is that safe to do?i hope its just the stat.

how cold does it get? Winter front might help or even some cardboard in front of radiator.

its been 15 to 20 degrees, but i cant remember ever running this cold. do you guys cover your rad?? i hate to have it over heat. never had to do it all these years. it would cook me out of the truck.like i said hope its the stat

Hey man I have a 99 doing the same thing! I gained some by covering it up. Then pinched off rad hoses. Its my late mothers truck andits neg 10 here ha. It was wrecked about 2 years ago. Dunno if it was ever fixed right

New baby as of 7/24/04 2004.5 Ram 2500 4x4 silver diesel. 600 cummins. All the nice lil electrical things that will die in about 5 years haha. Stock and with these payements at 20 will stay that way

If you have never replaced the thermostat...that is probably the issue. Mine "stuck open" and the temp stopped rising. When I replaced it, it turns out that it wasn't really stuck but all the rubber gaskets were toast and the t-stat was free flowing...I would suggest replacing the t-stat. It is a cheap fix and heat is a good thing.

same crap happened to me, wouldn't get past 100 in the summer. New thermostat, like you said, fixed the problem
