6.7/Aisin - How Much?

Now we know that the 6.7/Aisin is coming next year for the 2500/3500 (at least thats what some say ), does anyone know what the price will be compared to what teh 5.9 is going for now?

Just trying to plan my funds....

The 6.7 Turbo Diesel with the Aisin transmission will be available on the Cab and Chassis only. After the first of the year the 6.7 and a 68 RFE (a six speed auto) will be available on the 2500 and 3500 series pickups.

The cost of the 6.7 engine is $5,555 and the Aisin trans is $2,295 MSRP as of today. I signed the papers on my cab and chassis today, will take delivery Fri.

So the aisin is only cab and chassis and the Orion 68RE is going in the 2500/3500?

I wouldn't compare future prices for the 2007.5 trucks on the Cab & Chassis trucks. While, yes the C&C trucks do have the 6.7 and 6spd Aisin, it is my understanding that they do not have the new emission equipment required for the new EPA laws.

From what I've heard, the new trucks will be much more expensive (estimates I've read say up to $4000 more over a comporable 2006 truck) due to the new emissions equipment. Then that won't count the MPG hit the 2007.5 trucks will take trying to breathe through all of those particulate filters.

I think the 2006 / early 2007 trucks will be looked at like the 1998 12 valve's 7-8 years from now.

Yes they do have the new emission equiptment. All you do is look at and you can see the particulate filter and everything else that has been talked about. If I am not mistaken the MSRP for the engine is the same as the 5.9.
Time will tell how good the engine is, and I will know before most, I average between 7 and 10,000 miles a month pulling a trailer in the oilfields.

I'll keep the board updated on how well the truck is doing, mileage ect. My truck has the 6.7, aisin transmission, and the e-brake with the SLT package. Other than that it is a fairly stright forward work truck package.

eb290 is correct. Dodge thankfully did not have a big price increase for the 6.7 with all the added emission junk. I have four 07 cab&chassis sitting here and they are all equipped with the post jan-1-07 emission requirements.

Doh! I was under the impression that they didn't have the emissions stuff. Thanks for the correction.

Are you going to take advantage of the PTO feature of the Aisin Tranny?

Not right away, I have a Milemarker hydrolic winch that runs off the power steering pump. It's plenty strong for what I use it for (pole work) If it ever goes away, (breaks) I'll probably go to a PTO setup.

...unless they really beat Cummins down on their price of the 6.7 to DC. I suspect both Cummins and DC gave up some profit to hold the price of the diesel option to a "reasonable" level.
