Hopefully their new design will incorporate 6 bolt heads so their engines will stop farting out headgaskets. And maybe enough room to pull the valve cover without removing the body.
Don't count on that last one!
Twin scroll VGT turbos might make you not want twins...

Article mentiones GM Suburban might get the Cummins V8 diesel........?

I thought Chrysler would have the "exclusive" on that engine for the 1/2 ton Ram?

I thought the mention of the GM/Cummins was a little odd too, but what do I know?

Strange indeed, as GM had a baby Duramax V6 in the works during the same time back before the financial meltdown, and Ford had a baby V6 diesel also in the works.

At that time the Cummins V8 for the Ram 1500 was also being mentioned as coming.

I agree. considering not to long ago I was under the impression that the 4.5 duramax was closer to reality than the 5.0 cummins. Then GM put the kaibash on it.

My wife is in sales for one of the local dealers, and while in training today she heard some much more promising news. Promising enough that she had to call me and tell I was right! Look for some kind of diesel in the early part of 2011. She had very little details, and the instructor didn't offer up much, but enough was said that I think the 1/2 ton Rams will be sporting the first oil burners. Can't wait to see this, and for her to reap the benefit's of seeling all of them!

I agree this is why class 8 trucks use inline 6 engines less parts and they do get better milage than v-8's. Remember Detroit 8v-71 and 8v-92 and 3608 cats

Those are some old school engines that even back then sucked for more reasons then their mileage, LOL! Anything is better then the options offered right now.

Jeep has done the Wrangler in a diesel for years, you just could not buy it in the US http://www.jeep.co.uk/wrangler/specs.html (If you want to see what it has now in England) If memory serves me right it jumps from like 18 to 30 mpg with just the diesel option.

I gave up on it all, it's was cheaper for me to buy my old Ramcharger with the Cummins swap and restore the whole thing. I like the room better anyway.

Here's an idea, save money, bring back the 1st Gens with a 12v, add the 250 chassis to the Ramcharger, rust proof the heck out of it and sell a USA built truck built for a life time.

Nothing will change in the US until people get educated on the benefits of diesel and we run the EPA out of business.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread.....
