48re questions

my 05 48re seems to be slipping in overdrive, well actually just once did it seem like it slipped. i have bullydog set on 90 hp, was thing of TC and VB, but a local diesel/tranny guy told me he could turn up the line pressure on the stock tranny and it would be cheap $150ish. This would be much cheaper than $2500 or so for TC and VB and install. I don't pull anything, just a jet ski every now and then. Should I try the $150 fix? Has anyone else done this? Are there any drawbacks to upping the line pressure on a stock tranny? I don't need a totally built tranny IMO since I rarely pull and I don't beat the crap out of it. Just wondering if I should give this a try or not.
