Remote Start Install help Needed

I Installed a remote starter on my 05, 3500 CTD. It is in and working but I have a couple more optional wires that need to be connected. Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram or know who to contact to find color and locations for several wires. The wires I need to connect to are the:

Tachometer Wire
(Looking for color/location behind the instrament cluster)

Waite to Start / Glow Plug Wire
(Looking for color/location behine the instrament cluster)

The power wire for the dome light
(To be used as an input signal for the security system, Should be in one of the kick panels)

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide!

gatf4 05-17-2005 03:06 PM

I hooked up the tachometer wire to the ECM on the side of the engine block because I don't think there is anything behind the dash, same goes for the wait to start light. I think you can go directly to the grid heater or use a timer. I don't know about the interior light. Try www.the12volt.com do a search for Dodge ram

Thanks for the additional information. I keep seeing this "DirectFax document 1091" on several lists and I have no idea where to find this document. Can anyone tell me where to find this document?

gatf4 05-19-2005 11:35 PM

I believe that is the document that says you have to wire in a timer module to the wait to start wire on your alarm module. Thats what I did and now my remote start just waits 15 seconds ,after ignition turns on, before cranking the vehicle.

thanks alot for the info.... but i have bad news... i followed the steps exact, but when i hooked up the door locks it fried the module for the remote starter

fitzy 05-08-2006 07:55 PM

You need to use relays for the locks

Wherew could i get a couple relays and if i get them then how would i install them, if i went out and spent the money on a starter instead of getting one for free... Im planning on buying a Valet: hornet 560 or something like that.
Thanks for the info,

You should be able to go to any local car audio shop in your area or even a Radio shack to get the relays.

Help with 07 dodge

Does anyone know where to find the multiplex wire in the 07 its suposed to be purple/brown and i cant locate it!!!

juicedbusa02 11-13-2008 10:41 PM

purple/brown MUX wire on an 07

Remove the lower steering column shroud... my notes say .....

*2007 Dodge Ram Pick-Up:
MUX wire can be found in SKIM harness above ignition cylinder.

The purple/brown MUX wire will run from the ign switch to the transponder ring around the key cyl..

this wire does NOT run down the steering column so you will have to get it up closer to the wheel ...

hope this helps let me know if you have any questions i've done quite a few of these trucks .... good luck

Chris

colin467 11-13-2008 10:43 PM

ok thankyou i will try and find it

welcome man... those trucks can be a PITA ... but you'll get it what security module are you using??

To Ramdriver15 ..... here is a diagram of the relays you would have to wire up if you choose to DIY.... FYI lock wire is orange/purple and unlock is pink/purple.. here ya go ..

colin467 11-14-2008 01:41 AM

thanks but im using a idata blade and it does everything through data wires in the truck

Any one got a lead on a wiring diagram for an 03 5.9L Diesel...would the 04 diagram posted earlier be the same for an 03 5.9L Diesel?

Got an old remote starter lying around which has a 5/10/15 min delayed engine shutdown feature, which should come in handy as a turbo cooler.

Was planning to hook up ONLY those connections which will allow the delayed shutdown feature to function & allow the ign key to be turned off & removed. I'm guessing I'll need to tap into pwr/grnd, starter/ignition, tach & brake pedal.....but NOT the glow plug, door locks, lights, horn, etc.

Notes:
NOTE: For the 2002 Ram 2500/3500, refer to the 2001 techsoft sheet. NOTE: Chrysler vehicles that use a gray ignition key have an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed when remote starting. Use DEI part number 555C or 555U. *1 Lock requires a negative trigger thru a 820 ohm resistor. Unlock requires a negative trigger thru a 330 ohm resistor. MUST use relays. *2 Parking lights require a negative trigger thru a 330 or 1.4K ohm resistor. Headlights require a negative trigger thru a 1.8K ohm resistor. There is a rest resistance on the wire, so MUST use a relay to isolate away from the switch. *3 The LF door trigger is tan, and the LR door is tan/orange. These wires are in the driver kick panel. The RF door trigger is tan/red, and the RR door is tan/yellow. These wires are in the passenger kick panel. Use all wires and diode isolate each. See directfax document #1076 for wiring information. *4 This will also do door locks. Arm/lock is negative trigger thru a 2K ohm resistor. Disarm/unlock is negative trigger thru a 480 ohm resistor. Single pulse will do disarm without unlocking the doors. Unlock requires a double pulse. MUST use relays. *5 The PCM (Powertrain Control Module) is on the passenger side firewall. *6 The amplifier is located behind the glove box. *7 These wires may not be necessary for remote start.

Hmmmm.... so I wonder whats up with the word "NOT" for the TACHOMETER wire description

This a typo or is it telling me... "use any wire but do NOT use green/orange" ???

spitfire9137 09-11-2009 04:06 PM

That wire wouldnt apply to the diesels anyway, if you need a tach wire i can try and look that up for you.

xxwildbillxx 09-11-2009 04:49 PM

Oh that would be great! The remote starter is going on a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel. Was the last schematic posted for a diesel or is the tach wire the only wire that's different?

spitfire9137 09-11-2009 05:48 PM

The tach wire for a diesel should be the gray/black wire in position 8 in the black connector on the PCM. Everything I posted should be the same between the gassers and diesels.

xxwildbillxx 09-12-2009 12:39 PM

Spitfire9137 - Truly appreciate the info...thanks!
