hey guys, im new to DTR but ive been on cumminsforum for a while. Anyway i'll get to the point. A friend just gave me some seats out of a 99. they are 40-20-40 seats, so they got the middle console. I also have a pair of third gen buckets. the 2nd gen seats do not match my interior at all so i looked into getting them reupholstered but thats too expensive. however i can afford to have the middle console done the same as the 3rd gen seats (which match my interior) So i would have 3rd gen bucket seats with a middle console seat from a 2nd gen. Has anyone ever done this?
feedback, comments, advice would all be great!

Is your truck a Reg Cab or clubcab ? it should work .I do know that the center seat bolt's to the sides of the front seat's but you can also mount them seperate

its a reg cab. Im trying to keep the frame build as simple as possible

As long as it is solid and you can fit into the truck comfortably it is good.

Not sure if I'm following you here. The 99 seats are basically two bucket seats with a flip up center console/seat in the middle. The 3rd gen seats are setup the same way with a flip up console/underseat console/seat in the middle. So you are just missing the center console/seat from the 3rd gen setup.

I can't speak from experience on the 3rd gen setup. But I did just mount a set of 98-02 seats/console from a quad cab (rear suicide door) truck. These seats have the seatbelts built into them.

THESE DO NOT MOUNT THE SAME AS THE SEATS WITHOUT THE SEATBELTS BUILT IN.

Sorry, I just wanted to clarify that for anyone's future headache.

I picked the seats up after finding the dimensions for the frame in the stickied FAQ thread. But I was unaware that they changed the mounting when they went to the rear opening doors. You can NOT un-bolt the seats from the sliders on the models with the seatbelt built in. I did build a different frame and mounted them in my 92 ext cab. Its not 100% done, it was a PITA, and mine are positioned a bit high for my liking, but they are in and they work for now.

It will work but 2nd gen seats will sit really high up unless you trim your factory brackets down. Your bottom seat cushion will actually be higher then your inside door handle.

The pics of the seat brace is the ones I posted of my install. Could not cut down factory brackets. Because the back brace that runs across touches floor when seats are slide all the way back. Here is some pics of seat height. Could cut the front down to lower it. Don't know how much higher than factory never took pic before taking them out. Hope someone on here post pic so we can see the height differences.

i already got the seats in i went with the 3rd gen buckets. i'll try to get some pics of it soon.

How did you go about mounting them? The thread mentioned below is from me when I installed a set in my '90. The factory floor brackets/sliders were not used. That was my first idea but it placed the seats far too high and at too much of a rearward angle.

Heres a pic of what i originallly was gonna do but i ended up having to weild the stock sliders back on. It doesnt sit too high for me and the angle is good for me too.
